Port Charles General Hospital has been the main focus of the show since the show first aired on April 1st 1963.

On the 52nd anniversary in 2015 the fans got a glimpse into yesterday's past with the show doing a flash back episode which featured heavily with the Spencer clan.

Jason Thompson who plays Patrick Drake took on the role of Dr Steve Hardy, while Rebecca Herbst who plays Elizabeth webber took on the role of Jessie Brewer.

Also included was Ryan Carnes who plays Lucas Jones taking on the role of Dr Phil Brewer.

All of whom took centre stage at the hospital when Patricia Spencer brough her mother Lena into GH after being struck by a baseball bat.

It was in that episode that Steve Hard had to break the news to Patricia that her mother had died and he told  Nurse Jessie Brewer not to call Tim Spencer because he's known for beating his family and to call Lena's brother Fred instead.

Over the years the hospital staff have gone above and beyond the call of duty taking care of their patients whether it be tending to the sick, the dying or the wounded. Most of the time its to look after friends and family who have been involved in accidents such as when BJ Jones died and they gave her heart to her cousin Maxie and also the GH bus crash in 2010.

It was during that accident that Michael Corinthos and his cousin Molly wound up on the road trying to get help. Eventually help arrived, but the bus driver and a friend of Michael's sister Kristina ended up losing her life in the hospital.

In 2005 Manny Ruiz invaded the hospital operating room where Jason Morgan was to be operated on, which did not go unnoticed by Carly Corinthos, who spotted him while she looked through the window of the door to the operating room.

Max Giambetti and Sam Mccall wouldn't listen to her and she demanded Max give her his gun , and Sam said " Are you Insane, who am I kidding of course you are?"

Carly stormed into the room and she confronted Manny who held a  scalpel to her neck and kissed her. The only thing I can say about that situation is that Patrick made me laugh when he bitched "  I have not lost a patient on the operating table yet, and I don't intend to spoil a perfect record because you're having a bad mental health day" 

Robin got annoyed with him for arguing with  Manny calling Manny a psychopath and for Patrick to finish the surgery.

Sonny then entered ther operating room he threatened to shoot Manny . Manny then took Carly out of the room and she escaped but he got to her again the next thing you know Sonny shows up and rescues her but  she gives him crap for shooting Manny and Mac and the other poilce show up telling him to put the gun down.

In 2006 Port Charles was rocked when a deadly virus swept through the town. It wound up killing  Dr Tony Jones, Danny Mccall ( Sam Morgan's adoptive brother) and Courtney Matthews ( sister of mob king pin Sonny Corinthos)

In 2007 we saw the death of Alan Quartermaine, after he was held hostage at the mtrocourt hotel along with a few other Port Charles residents.

 Also in 2008 Michael Corinthos was brought in after having got shot in the head and Patrick yet again was called in and he operated on the wee lad.

In 2009 a deadly toxin hits the hospital . A  distraught man who witnessed his friend die infront of him tries to break down the door to leave and Sam and Jason wind up stopping him,instead of shooting the guy Sam shoots Jason.

In 2010 Kristina Corinthos was brought in after being beaten severely by her boyfriend Kiefer twice , and he wound up there himself after Alexis  ran him over with her car.  Keifer's father then stormed into the hospital  and confronted the distraught Kristina , shooting Mac Scorpio and  wound up losing his life when Mac shot him.

Also injured was  Ethan Lovett who was there to support his friend. 

In 2011 a deadly Pathogen swept through Port Charles making everyone sick. Jerry Jacks was behind it all and as it turned out Luke Spencer became sick, but for some unkown reason h the protocal that Robin made was given to Luke and he became immune to it. His blood was taken and they used it to make a syrum to help the others who were sick.

Also in 2011  Jason Morgan had another brain surgery after he got into another car accident . It turned out that during the  surgery Patrick found a piece fo dashboard that had been lodged in his head  since the  the first car accident he had in car accident  in 1995 that left him brain damaged.

Josslyn develops cancer in March 2011 and its up to Carly and Jason to try and convince Elizabeth to donate her now diseased son Jake's kidneys to Josslyn. Elizabeth slaps Jason for doing so, but agrees to it after Lucky convinces her that it would be the best thing to do.

 Also In  June 2012  Sam gave birth to Danny in a hotel reoom , and it was during that time a rain storm was happeneing , Sam took the baby out in the rain to go find help , but wound up walking int he rain passing out and that's when Danny was  stolen. 

It was during that time that  her baby was switched. It wasn't until 4 months later Sam found out her baby didn't die that Danny was finally returned to her when the baby became sick with a condition that ran rampant in the Cassadine side of the family.

In 2012 Robin is working in the lab trying to create a syrym to help Jason, after Maxie storms in and knocks the gas , it is believed that Robin died from that explosion , but it was really Jerry Jacks who caused it.

In 2013 its discovered that Sam's son Danny may have cancer, its a hard road for the now widowed Sam to deal with. But with the help of the hospital staff and her parents Danny pulls through and become a great support system for them.

In August 2014 Maxie Jones gives birth to her daughter Georgie, but there are complications as Maxie loses alot of blood, but soon recovers. In the same year Lulu and Dante find out that their embryo was implanted in Britt Westbourne and she gave birth to their son but kept him. In this case Britt should have been fired for her wrong doings.

In 2014 Danny is given the all clear, and in the same year Jason who has been presumed dead shows up at the hospital with facial fractures and has to have surgery. WIth facial reconstruction no one is aware that its him. Young Danny takes a liking to him straight away.

In February 2015 Jason has surgery after its discovered that Helena Casssadine had planted a chip in his brain,Sam is by his side as his friend, but is unaware that its her husband she sees in front of her.

With all the goings on at the hospital its no wonder the staff is rushed off their feet, but you best be aware not to tick off Nurse Epiphany Johnson or Chief of staff  Liesel Obrecht cause they don't like any sort of nonsense going on.
