In the 80's the viewers saw the tragic death of Tania Jones, she was leaving a shop after a day out shopping when she was hit and killed by an on coming car. She tragically died later in hospital leaving behind a grieving husband and a little girl who really needed her motherave .Tragically 8 years later BJ Tania and Tony's daughter died after being in a school bus crash. The poor little mite was brain damaged so her daddy did what he had to do, at that time his niece  Maxie was in the need of a heart and BJ's heart was given to her cousin.

In 1995 Stone Cates the younger brother of Jagger Cates, and boyfriend to Robin Scorpio died of aids. Stone died with Robin and Sonny by his side. 

In 1996 John Beradino who played Dr Steve Hardy on GH sadly pased away at age 79.

1998 was the last time we saw Luke and Bobbie's Aunt Ruby played by the lovely Norma Connolly.

In 2000 - 2015 the show was rocked by the real life deaths of David Lewis who portrayed Edward Quartermaine,  Anna Lee who played the sweet loveable and classy Lila Quartermaine died in real life in 2004, we also lost John Ingle who played Edward Quartermaine  in  2012.

The show had Lila and Edward die off screen leaving the fans  devastated and us seeing the funerals of the most beloved sweethearts  of General Hospital. 

In 2003 the Cassadine family lost one of their own when Kristina Cassadine died in a bomb explosion. 

In 2006 characters Tony Jones, Courtney Matthews and Danny Mccall lost their lives to a deadly virus that swept through Port Charles.

In 2007 The Quartermaine and  Scorpio-Jones clan lost their beloved daughters Emily and Georgie respectfully when they were brutally murdered by  deranged Diego Alcazar.

In 2008 GH lost another one of its cast members when Shell Kepler who played nurse Amy Vining from renal failure.

In  2011 and 2014  we saw the deaths of  Jake Spencer  and Gabriel Drake the sons of  Elizabeth Webber and Patrick die tragically.

Also in 2014 Connie Falconeri and  AJ Quartermaine both were shot and killed at the hands of Ava Jerome and Sonny Corinthos respectfully.

It never pays to know a secret about someone or try and get the truth told because sometimes people don't want the reat truth told , and shoot first and don't bother asking the ultimate question " What do you have to tell me?'

In 2015 Duke Lavery was gunned down by Carlos Rivera a horrible situation to behold as he was one of the best loved vets on the show.

Thankfully Anna gunned Carlos down as justice for duke.

It doesn't matter whether a character or the actor who portrays them has passed on, for the fans we loved them dearly and will always remember the joy they brought on and off screen.

Rest in peace to all those we loved and lost on screen and off screen from the General hospital family.
